BLOOMHILL, CHEVELEY TO BLOSSOM AT KZN YEARLING SALE

Cheveley Stud, breeders of a long list of champions including the likes of Bela-Bela and Legislate, are enjoying another great season in 2022-2023, with the farm’s flagbearers including classy Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Rascova, the latter’s progressive half-brother Brave Viking, and Navy Strength . The latter, a full-brother to the Cheveley bred dual G1 winner Snowdance, added further gloss to his remarkable family when he won this season’s G3 Drakenstein Stud Cape Summer Stayers Handicap earlier this season.

Cheveley’s Vaughan Koster will be bringing three yearlings to this year’s KZN Yearling Sale, with the trio comprised of colts by Captain Of All and One World, and a filly by the inform What A Winter.
The Cheveley bred Horse Of The Year and successful sire Legislate’s Listed Jockey Club Stakes winning own sister Statute has a One World colt (Lot 32) on sale, while Captainship (Lot 97) is a colt by champion sprinter Captain Of All out of East Cape champion, and multiple stakes winner Clear Sailing.

Sire sensation What A Winter, whose progeny include this season’s G1 Jonsson Workwear Computaform Sprint winner Isivunguvungu and, is represented in Cheveley’s KZN Sale draft by a full-sister (Lot 119) to Western Wishes, a winner of two of her first three starts, and this filly’s granddam is G1 The Oaks runner up Miss Rooney.

This draft can be found in Blocks C and D at Durban’s Suncoast Casino.

Bloomhill Stud is another farm with a small but quality draft on offer at the 2023 KZN Yearling Sale. The farm will be offering a pair of fillies sired by proven sires Futura and Master Of My Fate respectively. Palpable (Lot 4), who shares her four time G1 winning sire Futura with such high-class fillies as Pink Tourmaline, Light Of The Moon and Vihaan’s Pie among others, is out of a twice winning daughter of multiple champion sire Silvano and four time G1 winner, and dual Equus Champion Princess Victoria. This filly also hails from the same family as current standout Princess Calla and former champion sire Jallad among many others.

Master Of My Fate, whose daughters include G1 winners Sentbydestiny and Zarina as well as this season’s G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Lady Of Power, is represented here by a three-parts sister to the Master Of My Fate sired Equus Champion, and G1 Gold Medallion winner, Tempting Fate, with this filly’s other notable relatives also including this season’s G3 Winter Nursery runner up October Morn.
