KZN partnership Blue Sky Thoroughbreds recently made headlines when it was announced that the top-class sprinter Chimichuri Run would stand at stud under their banner.
A regally bred son of champion sire Trippi (who is enjoying another wonderful season in 2021-2022), Chimichuri Run has won eight times for earnings of in excess of R2.2 million and he looks a very exciting addition to the KwaZulu-Natal stallion band.
Chimichuri Run, who is out of a G1 winning daughter of former top-class KZN sire Kahal, scored his biggest win to date when he downed stablemates Trip To Heaven and Africa Rising to land the 2019 G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint.
His new home, Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, will be offering a stellar draft at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale, with this string composed of yearlings sired by Act Of War, Just As Well, Oratorio, William Longsword and the much missed Var.
The latter is represented here by Catavar (Lot 112), a colt from the family of international G1 winners Kementari and Sterling City, while this draft also includes a full-brother (Lot 90) to the smart stayer Aranjuez, and a full-brother (Lot 124) to Listed Racing Association Stakes heroine Just Chaos.
Blue Sky Thoroughbreds’ Bruce Le Roux pulled off a notable feat recently when he was involved with the breeding of two winners on the KZN Breeders day last weekend. The Blue Sky Thoroughbreds bred Mr Henley showed plenty of promise when he won Sunday’s New Predator KwaZulu-Natal Breeders Juvenile Plate, while the Bruce Le Roux bred Aunt Lizzy provided Bruce with a quick double when victorious in The Fort Stud KwaZulu-Natal Breeders 1200.
Blue Sky Thoroughbreds’ KZN Yearling Sale draft can be viewed in Blocks B and C at Durban’s Suncoast Casino.
