Based in Ceres, a valley which has produced so many thoroughbred champions, Boland Stud has had a wonderful past few months, with the Freeman farm producing stars of both the turf and sales ring.

Not only did Boland Stud breed recent feature race winners Barak (Port Elizabeth Gold Cup) and River Queraress (Ruffian Stakes), the farm also reared and raised such notable recent graded stakes winners as Ameena and Miss Cool, while the Boland Stud bred All Of Me recently took her tally of wins to 13 while taking her earnings to over R920 000.

Another notable graduate of the farm is the smart Hong Kong galloper Royal Agility, with the latter having recently won for a second time in Hong Kong.

Boland’s recent run of success has continued into the sales ring -with Boland Stud heading the Leading Vendors List at the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale. The farm had seven lots gross R2.21 million at the 2022 KZN Sale, with Boland also consigned the sale’s R1 100 000 sales topping Vercingetorix colt.

Eugene Freeman will be bringing another stellar draft to the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale, where Boland Stud will be offering lots sired by the likes of Erupt, Lancaster Bomber, Louis The King, Pathfork, Querari, Var and William Longsword.

One two-year-old in this draft with obvious appeal is Lashlaroo (Lot 22), an Erupt half-brother to speedy dual G3 winner True To Life, while the much missed Var is represented here by a half-brother (Lot 28) to Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery/Perfect Promise Sprint queen The Merry Widow.

Boland Stud’s August Two Year Old Sale draft can be found in Block C at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
