A pair of Bloodstock South Africa sold three-year-olds stamped themselves as hugely exciting prospects when winning Friday’s G3TAB4Racing Fillies Mile at Turffontein and Saturday’s G2 Cape Punters Cup at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.

Classy filly Emirate Gina made it three wins in a row when she stormed home to win Saturday’s TAB4Racing Fillies Mile under a well timed ride from Raymond Danielson.

The Roy Magner trained sophomore claimed the first graded stakes win of her career when landing the 2022 Fillies Mile by three-parts of a length, while accounting for the promising Flower Alley filly None Other.

Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Emirate Gina has now won three of eight starts for her owners Mrs J Callaghan & Messrs Magner & Robinson.

Emirate Gina, who was a R250 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale, is a daughter of successful Grand Slam horse Visionaire and Listed Sun Classique Handicap queen Dubai Gina, herself a daughter of former star miler Dubai Destination.

A leading first and second season sire of his year, Visionaire has two well bred lots on offer at this week’s November Two Year Old Sale. Sovereign State (Lot 18) is a colt from the family of G1 winners Nania, Red Ray and Set Afire, while Cocktail Girl (Lot 133) is a filly whose dam won three and whose G3 winning granddam is a full-sister to G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Legality.

Riyo Stud have bred a real champion in the form of Cousin Casey and that Vercingetorix once again showed his class when he stormed home to win Saturday’s G2 Cape Punters Cup, one of the Cape’s traditional preps for the Cape Guineas.

Under Grant Van Niekerk, the Glen Kotzen trained colt made it five wins in a row, and five wins from just seven starts in total, with a commanding one length win, at the expense of fellow BSA graduates At My Command and Le Morne respectively.

Last season’s Equus Champion 2YO Colt, the brilliant Cousin Casey, whose latest win took his earnings to over R1 000 000, is owned by Mr Ravi Naidoo.

A son of outstanding sire, and former National Sale graduate, Vercingetorix, Cousin Casey was a R375 000 buy from last year’s National Yearling Sale.

His sire Vercingetorix has some outstanding lots on offer at this week’s November Two Year Old Sale including a half-brother (Lot 62) to champion, and dual G1 winner, French Navy, a half-brother (Lot 160) to graded stakes winners Cousin Liz and Gimme One Night, and a colt (Lot 195) out of G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Juxtapose.
