BSA SALES CUP SUCCESS FOR FEATHER BOA, MOVER AND SHAKER

Prominent breeders Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein had a remarkable day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.

Not only did the combination breed Saturday’s brilliant G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July winner Sparkling Water, but Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred horses also captured both the Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (Fillies) and Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C&G) on Saturday.

The Stuart Pettigrew trained Feather Boa produced a fine turn of foot to land the R400 000 Bloodstock SA Sales Up, under a well timed ride from the inform Richard Fourie.

Runner up last time out, Feather Boa stormed home to account for some other promising two-year-old fillies and win by nearly half a length.

Racing for Messrs W D Jackson, M J Campbell, A D Marx & C C Valjalo, Feather Boa was a R200 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.

The filly is a daughter of Wilgerbosdrift’s consistently successful resident sire Flower Alley and the three time winning Silvano mare Osprey.

The well bred Mover And Shaker made a mockery of his 33-1 starting price when he ran out a game winner of Saturday’s Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C&G).

Under S’Manga Khumalo, who would later go on to land the July aboard Sparkling Water, Mover And Shaker made much of the running to land Saturday’s R400 000 feature for two-year-old colts and geldings by a neck, while holding off last start G1 Gold Medallion runner up Now I Got You.

The gelding is out of the Silvano mare B Twenty One -a six time winning daughter of G2 Odessa Stud Fillies Championship winner Park Lane.
