Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud is a farm which regularly brings high-class drafts to Bloodstock South Africa sales.
This could be clearly seen at the 2022 National Yearling Sale, where Hemel ‘N Aarde, run so ably by David Hepburn-Brown, had ten yearlings on offer all sell for a total of R2.685 million.
Top lot sold at this year’s National Sale by the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud was a What A Winter filly who was knocked down to Rakesh Singh for R450 000.
The farm, which is based just outside Hermanus, will be bringing another quality draft to the August Two Year Old Sale. Hemel ‘N Aarde’s August Sale string is comprised of two-year-olds by a host of different stallions include Captain Of All, Gold Standard, Master Of My Fate, and their own blue blooded resident sire Horizon.
The latter, whose first crop race this season, is represented in this draft by four lots including a filly (Lot 130) whose three time winning dam is a half-sister to G1 winning two-year-old Guiness, and a colt (Lot 137) out of a stakes winning half-sister to G2 Gauteng Guineas winner Tellina. The latter was sired by Horizon’s close relative, and multiple champion sire, Silvano.
Hemel ‘N Aarde will also be offering, as agent, a filly (Lot 35) by the hugely successful What A Winter, as well as a filly (Lot 202) by the blue blooded Alado on behalf of the Alado Project.
Hemel ‘N Aarde’s August Two Year Old Sale draft can be found in Block H at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
