Brett Van Laun is very bullish on the draft that Camargue Stud will be offering at this year’s National Yearling Sale. He says, “This year, we have truly an outstanding bunch of yearlings with a nice variety of stallions represented.” This is clear when taking into account the fact that Camargue will be offering lots by all of Act Of War, Erik The Red, Futura, Querari, What A Winter and the sensational One World.
While Brett is keen on his entire string, he picks out two yearlings which look to be real standouts.
Lot 227: c One World -Magic Penny, by Silvano
Out of a mare who won five including the Listed Off To Stud Handicap, and bred on the same cross as this season’s top-class two-year-old One Stripe, Brett describes this colt as “a standout colt, he is a natural early type and a magnificent specimen!”
Lot 252: c What A Winter -Monte Carlo Girl, by Trippi
This colt, a half-brother to four winners including Listed World Sports Betting Stormsvlei Stakes winner Future Girl, is a ‘quality horse with plenty of scope, despite being a November foal.”
Other attractive prospects to be found here include the Act Of War half-brother (Lot 49) to 8 winners including Listed Storm Bird Stakes winner American Grafifiti, the Erik The Red colt (Lot 46) bred on similar lines to G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner Cousin Liz, and the Querari filly (Lot 178) out of dual Listed winner Hurricane Katrina.
