CHEVELEY STUD BRING QUALITY QUARTET TO NATIONAL SALE

Cheveley Stud has a fine record of breeding high-class racehorses. Top class racehorses bred and raised at Cheveley include such champions as Bela-Bela, Legislate and London News, while the farm also bred this season’s high-class filly Rascova. The latter thrashed star filly Double Grand Slam by three and a half lengths when victorious in G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship before going on to finish second, to South Africa’s reigning Horse Of The Year Princess Calla, in the G1 City Of Cape Town Majorca Stakes.
Vaughan Koster will be offering a small but high-class consignment at this year’s National Yearling Sale, with Cheveley’s draft made up of two yearlings by Querari, a colt by Vercingetorix and a filly by the hugely exciting One World.

Outstanding sire Vercingetorix is the sire of a half-brother (Lot 344) to former Equus Champion, and G1 Premiers Champion Stakes winner, Good Traveller on offer here. This impeccably bred colt, bred on similar lines to G1 Woolavington 2000 winner Silvano’s Pride, is out of the Western Winter mare Skylar Lane, a winning full-sister to the G1 winners Redberry Lane and Solo Traveller. Skylar Lane’s dam Strawberry Lane was Broodmare Of The Year in 2017-2018, and the colt on offer’s third dam is G2 The Oaks winner Taineberry.

Safe to say, this is a colt with a stallion’s pedigree!
Vercingetorix’s stablemate Querari has two lots on offer. The Querari filly (Lot 329) out of Siena’s Star is a filly with tons of paddock value as she is a half-sister to both G3 World Sports Betting Variety Club Mile winner Without Question (beaten under two lengths when third in this year’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met) and Listed Europa Point Drum Star Handicap winner Infinite Wonder.

Querari is also the sire of a half-brother (Lot 355) to the useful William Rufus, and this colt hails from one of the best families in the stud book. His dam Spring In Seattle is a winning half-sister to four stakes winners notably dual G1 winner Snowdance (dam of this season’s G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas), and this colt’s granddam is a G3 Fillies Nursery winning half-sister to the Cheveley bred champions Bela-Bela and Rabiya, among many others.

Leading first season sire One World is another high-class stallion represented here. He is the sire of a regally bred filly (Lot 362) whose Listed Jockey Club Stakes winning dam is a full-sister to the Cheveley bred Horse Of The Year and successful sire Legislate. Further back, this is also the family of champion filly Gabor as well as the Captain Al sired Listed Swallow Stakes winner Sting Operation.

This draft can be viewed from Block B at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
