Vaughan Koster’s Cheveley Stud, a consistent source of top-class thoroughbreds, will be offering a top-class draft at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale.
Cheveley’s consignment is made up of two-year-olds by some of South Africa’s most successful and promising stallions namely Futura, Gimmethegreenlight, Legislate, The United States, Twice Over and William Longsword.
South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight is represented here by a filly (Lot 32), whose six time winning dam is a three-parts sister to G1 filly Maelstrom and half-sister to G2 Post Merchants hero Mike’s Choice. This classically bred filly’s third dam is G2 SA Invitation Stakes queen Chinatown, who finished second in the SA Oaks of her year.
Among the growing list of stakes winners sired by Gimmethegreenlight is World Sports Betting Perfect Promise Sprint winner Mercury Rising, and that filly has a Twice Over half-brother (Lot 305) on offer in this consignment.
The Cheveley bred champion Legislate is the sire of a half-brother (Lot 48) to a trio of stakes winners notably the graded stakes winners Fragrant Al and Captain’s Flame, while Futura, like Legislate a champion son of outstanding sire Dynasty, is responsible for a colt (Lot 31) whose granddam is a half-sister to champion, and successful sire, National Emblem.
Other appealing lots on sale include The United States colt (Lot 134) out of Fillies Guineas runner up Reason To Believe, and the William Longsword colt (Lot 174) who is bred on similar lines to the G1 winners All Is Secret, Snowdance and The Secret Is Out.
