Cornerstone Thoroughbred Stud SA will be offering two-year-olds by a host of different stallions at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale. From such proven stallions as Querari and Pathfork, to the likes of Danon Platina and New Predator, Cornerstone’s August draft looks to have something for every buyer.
Consistently successful sire Querari, whose son Cosmic Speed was such an impressive winner of this year’s G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe, is the sire of Storm Crest (Lot 97). Bred on the highly successful Querari/Silvano cross, this filly, a three-parts sister the Querari sired Listed Ruffian Stakes winner Dagmar, hails from the same family as such high-class performers as Ravishing, Red Badge and Villandry, to name but a few.
Querari’s half-brother Quasillo is another represented in this draft. His daughter Meet At Sea (Lot 204), out of a twice winning daughter of Gimmethegreenlight, hails from one of the best families in the Australian Stud Book and her numerous top-class relatives including outstanding sire Not A Single Doubt.
Irish champion Pathfork, sire of recent G1 winners Main Defender and Royal Victory among many others, is the sire of Keldeo (Lot 263), a colt closely inbred to outstanding sire Distorted Humor. The well bred Keldeo is out of a twice winning full-sister to dual graded stakes winner Bold Fortune, and, further back, this is the family of numerous high-class South American runners.
Japanese champion Danon Platina is doubly represented here. Pangoro (Lot 286) is a colt whose dam is a half-sister to G3 Politician Stakes winner Blaze Of Noon, while Lukiri (Lot 328) from the family of Triple Tiara winning champions Cherry On The Top and Summer Pudding, among others.
This draft can be found in Block A at the TBA Complex in Germiston. The 2024 August Two Year Old Sale will take place on August 22nd and 23rd, with each day of trading set to commence at 10:30 AM.
