The classy and well bred Erik The Red is an exciting addition to the South African stallion band. A son of outstanding sire Captain Al (also the sire of current sire sensation One World), Erik The Red showed high-class form at both two and three. Bred and raced by Varsfontein Stud, Erik The Red captured a trio of graded races during his career, and won all of the 2020 G3 KEPU Cape Of Good Hope Nursery, the 2020 G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes and 2021 G2 Cape Thoroughbred Sales Cape Merchants.

An impeccably bred stallion, Erik The Red is out of the Western Winter sired G1 Majorca Stakes winner Covenant, who also ranks as the dam of exported G1 Gold Medallion runner up Varallo as well as the stakes placed dam of G2 World Pool With Gold Circle Debutante winner Cala Muretta.
Bred on similar lines to the Captain Al sired South African Triple Crown winning sire Malmoos, Erik The Red hails from the same family as Varsfontein’s highly successful stallion Master Of My Fate among many others.
