Cornerstone Stud SA, created through the passion of Anthon and Liz Hoek, became a thoroughbred operation in 2017.
The farm’s motto is “Our aim is to breed sound, athletic horses who can go into their 2nd careers when finish racing. We offer spelling and pre-training and conditioning of young stock for the sales ring. Cornerstone Stud is also home to Cornerstone Equestrian Centre SA, established in 1997, where we nurture equine passion and where horsemanship is key to develop future Human and Equine athletes.”
Situated in Centurion near Pretoria, Cornerstone Stud SA will be offering a small but select string at this year’s National Yearling Sale. Anthon will be bringing three classy yearlings to the National Sale this year, with his trio comprised of two yearlings by Chimichuri Run, and a filly by Erik The Red. Lot 74: Chimichuri’s Dream f Chimichuri Run -Dreams Of Love
This bay filly by Champion Sprinter Chimichuri Run is out of the Querari mare, Dreams of Love, who was placed in three of her four starts. Dreams Of Love is a half-sister to the lightning fast Cataloochee, himself an Equus Champion Sprinter who was out of the five time winning mare Lexington Love.
Lot 166: Be My Light c Chimichuri Run -Light Chaser
A bay colt by champion sprinter Chimichuri Run, by Champion Sire, Trippi, out of the Gimmethegreenlight mare Light Chaser. The latter, an own sister to Tail of The Comet and Chasing Green, was a winner and was placed 5 times. Light Chaser is a daughter of the Jet Master mare Comet Chaser, who won the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes and was placed six times. The well bred Comet Chaser is a half-sister to Fairyinthewoods, winner of the G2 Southern Cross Stakes and dam of recent debut winner Clairwood Rose.
Lot 170: Rooirokbokkie: f Erik The Red -Little Doe
Sired by Silvano, Little Doe is a winner of 2 races and was placed 3 times. She is out of the Western Winter mare Bichette herself a four time winner including the G2 Camellia Stakes and was 2nd in the G2 Ipi Tombe Challenge and 3rd in the G1 Garden Province Stakes. This is also the family of bold black type winner Warrior’s Rest and Viva Maria, winners of the G1 Golden Horse Sprint and G1 Woolavington 2000 respectively.
