FEATURE RACE DOUBLE FOR BLOODSTOCK SOUTH AFRICA

It has been another wonderful season for graduates of Bloodstock South Africa sales, and BSA sold thoroughbreds struck yet again when victorious in a pair of graded stakes races run at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.

The Wicklow Stud bred My Golly Molly showed his class when he ran out an eye catching winner of Saturday’s G3 World Sports Betting Langerman (one of the Cape’s top races for two-year-olds) while fellow BSA alumni Love Is A Rose captured the G3 Final Fling Stakes on the same card.

Promising two-year-old My Golly Molly produced an electrifying turn of foot which saw him mow down his rivals to claim the 2023 Langerman by a short-head. Ridden to victory by Sean Veale, the Eric Sands trained colt races for Gary Player, Nick & Val McFall, Canine Solutions CC, and the Sands Grooms Racing Trust.

A first graded stakes winner for his exciting young sire Fire Away, My Golly Molly, who has won two of his last three starts, was a R200 000 buy from the 2022 National Yearling Sale. The colt, a half-brother to the stakes placed Baby Shooz, is out of the twice winning Western Winter mare Molly R.

My Golly Molly’s sire Fire Away, a son of outstanding stallion War Front, has eight lots on offer at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale, including a half-sister (Lot 246) to 2022 G2 Glorious Goodwood Premier Trophy hero Hoedspruit.

The Greg Ennion trained Love Is A Rose claimed her biggest win to date when she stormed home to win the 2023 Final Fling Stakes in grand style. Under a superbly timed ride by Richard Fourie, the Willem Engelbrecht Jnr bred three-year-old ran on strongly down the inside of the track to down the front running Young Love by nearly half a length. Racing for Etienne Braun, John Lamb and Wayne Mealing, Love Is A Rose took her tally of wins to four with her win on Saturday.

The filly was a R70 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale, where Love Is  A Rose was consigned by Boland Stud, as Agent.

Excitingly, Love Is A Rose has a full-brother (Lot 107) on offer at the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale. The siblings were sired by Varsfontein Stud’s increasingly successful homebred sire Master Of My Fate and are out of the four time winning Silvano mare Amarillo Rose.

There is no reason to think lightning won’t strike twice!
