Big Sky Ranch will be offering a quality draft of thoroughbreds at this year’s National Yearling Sale.
The Karoo based stud’s string includes lots by such proven and promising stallions as Danon Platina, Duke Of Marmalade, Erupt, Querari, What A Winter and Vercingetorix.
Big Sky Ranch will also be offering two lots on behalf of John Slade, namely a colt by Futura and a filly by the always popular Querari.
John is very keen on the quality of the string being offered by Big Sky Ranch and had the following comments to make about their draft.
Lot 16. Bf Querari x Princess Nicky.
A really nice big athletic filly. Well-muscled and balanced. Half-sister to the Gimmethegreenlight filly Emerald Princess,who is quite useful. (We sold a super Gimmethegreenlight colt out of the mare last year that should make a nice three-year-old). Second dam is the stakes winning mare Joshua’s Princess.
Lot 43. Br f What a Winter x Sailor Girl.
An outstanding filly. She is very correct and classy. Dam is a 4-time winner out of Colonial Girl. From the Lady Firebird damline.
Lot 377. Bf Querari x Mochalette.
Another super filly, a good-sized quality filly, correct and balanced. Full sister to Kazaar. Dam is 1/2 sister to Mocha Java and Mochachino. Family of Baharin and Hunting Tower.

Lot 89. Bc by William Longsword x Society Pages.
This a mature, strong, well-muscled colt. He is a full brother to Bon Vivant. Dam is a Medaglia D’oro mare who is out the multiple Gr1 winner and placed mare Society Selection.
Lot 99. Bc by Potala Palace x Star Profile.
He a medium sized colt, beautifully put together and balanced. Dam is Grade 3 placed and from the family of Silver Arc and William Robertson.
Lot 196. Bc by Duke of Marmalade x Better Together
A lovely sprinting type of colt. He is a sprinter and being a three-parts brother to True To Life he should be well liked at the sale. Next dam is Mina Salaam.
Lot 235. Bc by Erupt x Dalaal.
A big strong colt, a miler type. Correct and pleasing. His dam is by Silvano and is a half-sister to the dam of Nebraas. Family of Amanee and Karakontie. Fourth dam is Miesque!
Lot 253. Br colt by Damon Platina x Efistful.
This is a November foal but is very smart and sharp. A real character. He is out of a Fort Wood mare who is a half-sister to Hermosa Mundo and second dam is Escoleta Fitz.
Lot 264. Bc Futura x Zarzana.
A really nice medium sized colt. Sharp and racey. Out of an Australian bred mare, the dam of multiple winner and 1/2 sister to Cape Royal.
Lot 361. Bc Vercingetorix x Mansoor.
Not only is he by Vercingetorix but he is our best colt, by far. Beautiful classic type and very correct. He is a standout. (In the beginning I noticed that Vercingetorix showed a preference for Giants Causeway. Not so obvious now that he has proven to be a very good sire that upgrades his mares.)
