G1 WINNERS DOMINATE BIRCH BROS AUGUST TWO YEAR OLD SALE DRAFT

The Karoo based Birch Bros, whose family have bred such legendary champions as Colorado King, Sea Cottage and Wolf Power, will be offering a smashing draft at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale.

Their consignment will be made up of two-year-olds sired by such standout G1 winners as Admiral Kitten, Canford Cliffs, Rafeef, Red Ray and William Longsword.

The farm’s resident sire, and former G1 Mercury Sprint winner, Red Ray has three lots in the Birch Bros’ draft. Burn So Bright (Lot 156) is a half-brother to four winners from the family of champion Evening Mist, Baby Hold On Tight (Lot 217) is a filly out of a winning three-parts sister to champion Special Parade, and Ray Flambe (Lot 281) is a filly out of a full-sister to G3 Diana Stakes heroine Double Whammy.

Admiral Kitten, the only son of Kitten’s Joy at stud in South Africa, made a bright start with his first local crop and he is represented by Now I Got You (Lot 172), a colt whose dam is a half-sister to G1 sprinter Poly Nationa.

Rafeef, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, is represented here by Reefway (Lot 249), a filly from the same family as breed shaping champion sire Lyphard, and Feel The Magic (Lot 269). The latter is a filly whose dam is a full-sister to G3 Cape Classic winner Eighth Wonder, and this filly hails from the same family as current high-class performers African Adventure and Smorgasbord among others.

Five time G1 winner Canford Cliffs, whose first South African crop race in 2021-2022, is sire of Cantilever Spring (Lot 186), a colt from the same family as high-class stakes winners Gastronomical and Bai And Bai, while Cape Guineas winner William Longsword’s sole representative is Electric Feels (Lot 2), a filly bred on similar lines to Swallow Stakes winner Sting Operation -the dam of G3 winner Silver Operator.

Master Of My Fate, whose current flagbearers include the likes of Zarina, Native Tongue and African Adventure, is also represented here. The son of Jet Master is the sire of Whiz Bang (Lot 105), a colt whose dam is a half-sister to the Jet Master sired millionaire Storm Warning, and this colt’s fourth dam is none other than champion Olympic Duel.
