Gelykfontein Stud’s Schalkie Van Der Walt has high hopes for the two fillies he is bringing to the 2023 National Yearling Sale.

Just Jazzed Up (Lot 332), is a filly by Dubawi’s dual G1 winning son Erupt, and she is out of a full-sister to G2 Victory Moon Stakes winner Zambucca. Schalkie describes this filly as, “a strong, well-built filly, who is well-grown and correct.”

Japanese champion Danon Platina has made a pleasing start with his first two-year-olds this season and he is the sire of Karoo Bokkie (Lot 394), a filly who hails from the same family as champion Imperial Silver. She too has impressed her breeder, who says of her, “She is an exceptional, high-class filly with the utmost quality about her. She is a neat, clean type who is racy.”

The fillies mentioned above can be viewed from Block E at the TBA Complex in Germiston.

Klawervlei Stud are enjoying another fine season in 2022-2023, with their flagbearers including G1 WSB SA Classic winner Anfields Rocket as well as G3 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Leaving Las Vegas, and G1 WSB Cape Town Met runner up Kommetdieding. The latter has since returned to Klawervlei, where he will take up stud duties later this year.

The Bonnievale farm will be bringing a small but select draft to this year’s National Sale, with Klawervlei’s string made up of yearlings sired by Futura, Gimmethegreenlight, Master Of My Fate, Trippi and the Klawervlei bred champion Vercingetorix.

John Koster says of his draft for the 2023 National Yearling Sale, “They are a potent and powerful group of yearlings chosen specifically for their superior athleticism, conformation and quality pedigrees.”

Potential highlights in this draft include the Vercingetorix full-brother (Lot 54) to G2 WSB Club Prive Green Point Stakes winning millionaire Seeking The Stars, the Gimmethegreenlight colt (Lot 164) whose G2 placed dam is a full-sister to champion Always In Charge and the remarkable Captain Lars, and the Gimmethegreenlight half-brother (Lot 225) to Equus Champion, and G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas heroine, Just Sensual. The latter colt was produced by another Equus Champion in the form of Consensual.
