This year, Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud will be bringing a string with a horse for every buyer to the KZN Yearling Sale. David Hepburn-Brown will be offering yearlings by a range of stallions with this draft including yearlings sired by all of Fire Away, Hawwaam, Horizon, Master Of My Fate, Potala Palace, What A Winter and the hugely popular Vercingetorix.

The latter, whose yearlings made up to R3 600 000 at this year’s National Yearling Sale, is the sire of the well named filly Quickstepgal (Lot 5), a daughter of the smart Jet Master sired mare Victoriana. The latter, herself a three time winner who ran second in the G3 Champagne Stakes, is a three-part sister to dual graded stakes winner Gem King and half-sister to champion filly Hammie’s Hooker.

Gem King’s sire Master Of My Fate is represented in this consignment by Star Of The Sea (Lot 113), a filly, closely inbred to Soho Secret, who is out of the Silvano sired Listed Breeders Guineas runner up Kumiko. Kumiko, a close relative of the Silvano sired champion Kings Gambit, is from the same family as such stars as Malmoos, Covenant, Promisefrommyheart and Master Of My Fate himself. This is also the family of champion London News, broodmare sire of Kumiko herself.

Butterfly Express (Lot 40), is a What A Winter full-sister to G3 Betway Merchants runner up Tread Swiftly and to the very smart galloper Blackwhitedynamite, and this filly’s immediate relatives include 2024 G2 TAB SA Nursery winner Fire Attack. The latter’s sire Fire Away is another exciting sire represented in this draft -he is the sire of a filly (Lot 90) whose four time winning Silvano sired dam hails from the family of champion Dollar Fortune.

Hemel ‘N Aarde’s KZN Sale draft can be found in Blocks D and E at the Suncoast Casino in Durban.
