HEVERSHAM TO WING TO AUGUST SALE SUCCESS

Sadly now deceased, Wings Of Desire was a high-class racehorse with a superb pedigree. Winner of the G2 Dante Stakes (a race also won by the likes of Golden Horn, Roaring Lion, Hurricane Lane and Desert Crown in recent times), Wings Of Desire was a son of outstanding sire Pivotal, whose progeny include current boom sire Siyouni among others.

A full-brother to G2 winner Eagle Top, Wings Of Desire was also a three-parts brother to the Pivotal sired dual Oaks winner Sariska, while further back, he hailed from the same female line as such legendary stallions as Hyperion and Sir Tristram.

Heversham Park Stud will be offering four two-year-olds at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale, all by the late Wings Of Desire, and all hailing from high-class families.

A spokesperson for Heversham touched on the merits of this draft, and had the following comments to make. “Wings Of Desire did not get the best of opportunities at stud, he’s only had a handful of runners. And we have all seen what happens when stallions die. This crop was produced from a higher quality of mare and we are confident we will see good results from this.

“This draft includes Balerion (Lot 7) a colt out of Pinkyandthebrain (Hawk Wing). He is a half-brother to G1-placed Herodotus. Another to note is the really well bred Isle Of Crete (Lot 160). The latter, a real quality colt, is a half-brother to the dam of champion stayer, and equine millionaire, Nebraas, and this is the type of horse who could win you a Gold Cup.”

This draft can be viewed from Block A at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
