HONG KONG SUCCESS FOR BLOODSTOCK SOUTH AFRICA

The great run of form enjoyed by Bloodstock South Africa graduates this weekend continued when the BSA sold Ezra saluted at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the flashy grey stormed into the lead 200m from home and powered clear to lift Sunday’s Ma On Shan Handicap (1600m) by a length and a half.

Ezra, who was earned over HK$2 000 000, was ridden to victory by Karis Teetan.

Trained by Tony Millard, Ezra races for William Mocatta.

The gelding, who was knocked down to his owner for R2 200 000 at the 2017 National Yearling Sale, is a son of Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s triple G1 winning sire Oratorio. The latter is no stranger to success in Hong Kong, with Oratorio’s near 60 stakes winners including former Hong Kong Horse Of The Year Military Attack.

Ezra, who hails from the famed “E” family, is out of top-class racemare Emerald Beauty -the winner of three races including the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas and runner up in the G2 Thekwini Fillies Stakes.
