JULY WINNER SIBLING A STANDOUT FOR VARSFONTEIN STUD

Long ranked among South Africa’s top stud farms, Varsfontein Stud had another good season in 2021-2022 with the farm responsible for five black type winners, and Varsfontein bred runners banked more than R9.853 million last season.

Among Varsfontein’s notable flagbearers of last season was the top-class three-year-old Zapatillas, who not only won the G2 World Sports Betting Guineas but also captured the Listed #WomenInRacing Sophomore Sprint.

The farm, whose numerous high-class recent graduates also include WSB Triple Crown winner and now Ridgemont Highlands sire, Malmoos, will be offering an exceptional draft at the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale.

This draft is made up of two-year-olds by some of South Africa’s elite stallions including Gimmethegreenlight, Master Of My Fate, Querari, What A Winter, and Vercingetorix. The latter’s sole offering here is Join The Dots (Lot 41), a colt out of G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner On Her Toes.

A potential standout here is the blue blooded filly No Honey No (Lot 80), with this Master Of My Fate daughter a half-sister to no fewer than 10 winners headed by G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Belgarion.

Varsfontein’s champion resident sire Gimmethegreenlight has five well bred lots in this draft, including Let’s Go Now (Lot 114), a full-sister to the exciting filly Bless My Stars, and Lickety Split (Lot 132), a filly out of a G1 placed daughter of champion sire Trippi.

Varsfontein’s draft for this year’s August Two Year Old Sale can be found in Blocks B and C at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
