South Africa’s reigning champion breeders, Klawervlei Stud, are set to offer a high-class consignment at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.

Klawervlei will be offering yearlings by a range of different stallions including their resident sires Captain Of All, Coup De Grace, Twice Over and William Longsword, as well as by the likes of Gold Standard, Oratorio and former South African champion sire Trippi.

The latter, whose progeny include this season’s G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Jet Dark, is the sire of a beautifully bred filly (Lot 24) out of millionaire and G2 Merchants winner Jackodore, and further back, this filly’s relatives include high-class stakes winners Court Messenger and Hard Astern. 

Trippi’s Selangor Cup winning son Gold Standard, a fine poster boy for the Cape Sale, supplies a filly (Lot 104) whose dam is a half-sister to Australian five time G1 winner Boban, while G3 Jubilee Handicap winner, and sire, Captain Corageous’s own sister Breathtaking has a filly (Lot 159) by European champion, and four time G1 winner, Twice Over on sale.

The ever popular Gimmethegreenlight, sire of such star performers as Got The Greenlight and Yulong Prince, has a half-brother (Lot 129) to the stakes winners Albert Mooney and Sunset Eyes on offer, while Oratorio’s only yearling in this draft is a daughter (Lot 7) of East Cape Oaks heroine Fortissimus.

Champion sprinter Captain Of All, the sire of recent Guineas runner up Linebacker, is represented here by a filly (Lot 173) out of a four time winning Silvano half-sister to champion Just Sensual, while William Longsword, like Captain Of All a G1 winning son of Captain Al, is the sire of a half-sister (Lot 107) to the very smart performers Triple Fate Line and Travelling Light, with this filly’s third dam, Off To War, being responsible for Captain Al himself!

Tapit’s well performed son Coup De Grace, the only son of his legendary sire at stud in South Africa, is also represented here -his colt (Lot 186) out of Unbridled’s Song mare Emirates Lady hails from one of the best families in the stud book with his relatives including all of A.P. Indy, Duke Of Marmalade, Lemon Drop Kid, and Ruler Of The World.
