Hanno Joubert’s La Berg Stud will be offering two, high-class yearlings at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.
La Berg’s draft is made up of a colt by Coup De Grace, and a filly by Pomodoro. The latter, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire Of 2017-2018, has made a big impression since retiring to stud, with his early crops yielded such as champion Return Flight and R5 000 000 plus earner Cirillo.
Pomodoro’s latest star is high-class three-year-old Russian Rock, who downed subsequent G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Jet Dark when he won the recent G1 Cape Racing Presents The Cape Guineas.
The July winning Pomodoro is represented in this draft by a full-sister (Lot 170) to a winner, and this filly is out of a daughter of speedy Olympic Duel Stakes runner up Maggie. Further back, this is the same family as graded stakes winners Masai Mara, Masai Warrior, Natural Selection and former G1 Queen’s Plate winner Divine Force.
Tapit’s very well bred and performed son Coup De Grace is another represented in La Berg’s Cape Sale consignment. He has a colt (Lot 178) out of speedy four time winner Darkness Bright, with the latter herself a half-sister to smart performers Dachmar and Sterling Land, and this is also the family of former SA Oaks heroine Haute Cuisine.
Once again, the Cape Sale will be held at the magnificent Mistico Equestrian Centre, and the catalogue for the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale can be viewed online at www.bsa.co.za
