Maine Chance Farms stallions dominated proceedings in the recently concluded South African racing season of 2021-2022.
The farm’s deceased star sire Silvano was crowned South Africa’s Champion Sire for 2021-2022, while Silvano’s son, with fellow Maine Chance resident, Vercingetorix, second on the South African General Sires List for that period. A former graduate of the National Sale, Vercingetorix gained compensation for his second place on the general sires list by heading the Leading Sire of 3YOs premiership for the recently concluded season.
Maine Chance is also home to Querari, Leading Sire of 2YOs for 2021-2022, while their Dubawi horse Erupt made a flying start with his first two-year-olds last season headed by G3 Protea Stakes/Listed Storm Bird Stakes winner Karangetang.
Maine Chance will be offering a strong line up of two-year-olds at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale, with their draft including lots by Silvano, Vercingetorix, Querari and Erupt, as well as by the likes of Heavenly Blue and What A Winter.
The Robertson farm will also be offering two lots by Australian star Helmet, best known as the sire of dual G1 Dubai World Cup winner Thunder Snow, at this year’s August Sale. Silhyana (Lot 119) is a half-sister to a German stakes winner and her dam is a full-sister to none other than Silvano, while Santo Domingo (Lot 126) is a colt from the same family as champion Stacelita as well as this year’s Japanese dual classic winner Stars On Earth.
The Maine Chance Farms’ August Sale draft can be found in Blocks B, C and D at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
