One of South Africa’s leading thoroughbred nurseries, Mauritzfontein, will be bringing a stellar draft to the upcoming November Two Year Old Sale.
The breeders of recent Horse Of The Year Summer Pudding, among many other champions, will be offering two-year-olds sired by a range of stallions, including Canford Cliffs, Flower Alley, Gimmethegreenlight, Ideal World, Querari, Rafeef and Var.
Resident sire Ideal World, whose progeny include champions Rainbow Bridge and Smart Call, has two lots on offer. Rosy Lemon (Lot 28) is a three-parts sister to the very smart sprinter Amazing Strike, while Stepdance (Lot 97), a colt out of G3 Jacaranda Handicap runner up Tip Toe, is a brother in blood to the Ideal World sired G3 winner Zen Arcade.
Ideal World’s very smart daughter Colorado Springs has a half-sister (Lot 50) on sale by the exciting Galileo horse The United States, while Sky Velocity (Lot 86) is a Querari filly whose three time winning dam is a sister in blood to G1 Majorca Stakes queen Love Is In The Air, among others.
Reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight is responsible for Lord Porchester (Lot 64), a colt from the family of champions Greys Inn and Smart Call, while Constitutionalhill (Lot 138), a filly by the now pensioned top sire Var, is another from this outstanding family -also responsible for Australian standouts Zeditave and Melito.
Youre My Sunshine (Lot 31) is a colt by the very promising Rafeef out of Listed Scarlet Lady heroine Louisiana, while Irish classic winner Canford Cliffs’ sole representative in this draft is Sweet Cherry Wine (Lot 132), a half-sister to four winners including recent scorer Jackson Wells.
Other appealing lots include Jazz Festival (Lot 90), the Flower Alley half-brother to Fillies Guineas third placegetter Freestate Star, and Brosnan (Lot 39), a colt by Flying The Flag out of the very smart racemare Miranda Frost.
