Millstream Farm is no stranger to enjoying success at the Cape Yearling Sale. At the 2022 Cape Yearling Sale, the farm consigned the joint sales-topping Vercingetorix colt, who was knocked down to Greg Bortz for R1 000 000.
Last year, Millstream Farm yearlings fetched up to R450 000 at the Cape Sale, and the farm will be looking for more sales ring success at the 2024 Cape Yearling Sale.
This year, Millstream will be offering a small but select string of four yearlings, with their draft comprised of lots sired by both Flower Alley and Quasillo.
Flower Alley, whose daughters include South Africa’s reigning Horse Of The Year Princess Calla as well as the likes of Lilacs And Lace, Feather Boa and None Other, is the sire of a filly (Lot 3) whose stakes placed dam is a half-sister to both G2 Post Merchants runner up Chantyman and last season’s G2 World Sports Betting SA Nursery third Ripple Effect, while further back, this is the family of G1 winners Curata Storm, Hailsham, Prince Kirk and 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup winner Without A Fight.
Sea The Stars’ son Quasillo, sire of the likes of Ameena and Quasiforsure from very small books, has three lots on offer. Five time winner Casa Nostra, a half-sister to stakes winners Cinnamon Sugar and Greenacre, has a Quasillo colt (Lot 27) on offer, as does Lupin (Lot 89), a stakes placed daughter of outstanding broodmare sire Royal Academy.
Quasillo is also the sire of Lady Blunt (Lot 119) a filly out of a five time winning half-sister to August Stakes winner Storm Crossing, with Lady Blunt’s granddam being none other than the Elliodor sired G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Flaming Corn.
The Millstream draft can be found in Block D at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
