MILLSTREAM FARM TO SHINE AT NATIONAL SALE

Situated close to the famed Rooiberg Cellar, Millstream Farm continues to enjoy success as a top-class breaking and spelling farm.

Among the notable horses to have graced the paddocks at Millstream is none other than Equus champion Nebraas. The latter, last season’s Equus Champion Stayer, added to his success when he captured the recent G3 WSB R10 000 1st Deposit Match Caradoc Gold Cup to take his earnings to over R840 000.

The farm also bred talented filly Vihaan’s Pie, winner of the 2021 G3 Poinsettia Stakes, as well as Listed Christmas Handicap winner Mount Anderson, while the numerous high-class mares to have resided at Millstream over the years include G1 Golden Slipper winner Gilded Minaret and regally bred G2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes queen Tamanee.

Millstream Farm also enjoyed fine results at the Cape Yearling Sale earlier this year. The farm consigned the joint sales topping Vercingetorix colt (Lot 61), who was knocked down to prominent owner Greg Bortz for R1 000 000. Overall, Millstream ended up as third Leading Vendor by Aggregate at the 2022 Cape Sale, selling eight yearlings for a gross total of R2.3 million.

This year, Millstream Farm will be offering yearlings sired by the likes of Fire Away, Flower Alley, Lancaster Bomber, Querari and Vercingetorix at the National Sale, with the draft including a Vercingetorix half-sister (Lot 330) to Listed Umngeni Handicap runner up Spydas Corner, a Lancaster Bomber colt (Lot 362) out of a winning sister to champion Capetown Noir, an Oratorio filly (Lot 405) out of a full-sister to US G1 winner and sire Data Link, and a Lancaster Bomber filly (Lot 439) out of a stakes winning daughter of champion sire Trippi.

The Millstream yearlings can be viewed in Block B at the TBA Complex during the days leading up to this year’s National Yearling Sale.
