Jan Mantel’s Millstream Farm will be bringing eight yearlings to the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale, set to take place at Kenilworth racecourse on February 27th.
Millstream’s string is made up of lots sired by such promising young sires as Danon Platina, Erupt and Royal Mo, as well as by such proven G1 stallions as Potala Palace, Time Thief, Twice Over and champion sire elect Vercingetorix.
The latter, arguably the hottest stallion at stud in South Africa at the moment, has two yearlings on offer in Millstream’s draft. The Vercingetorix colt (Lot 61) out of the three time winning Al Mufti mare So Impressed is out of a three-parts sister to former champion sire Captain Al, while Vercingetorix is also represented here by a colt (Lot 110) whose dam is a winning full-sister to G3 Protea Stakes hero Bold Eagle.
Placid Sea, a three time winning relative of former successful South African sire Caesour among many others, has a filly (Lot 37) by Dubawi’s promising son Erupt on sale, while smart racemare Red Ginger, a five time winning half-sister to August Stakes winner August Crossing, has a colt (Lot 44) by the very much inform Twice Over on this year’s Cape Sale.
Deep Impact’s G1 winning son Danon Platina looks a very exciting addition to the local stallion band, and he is represented in Millstream’s draft by a colt (Lot 105) out of Winter Oaks runner up Winter Approach -whose granddam is champion Joie De Grise.
Other attractive lots in this consignment include the Potala Palace filly (Lot 50) out of Captain Al’s four time winning daughter Sails Set, and the Royal Mo colt (Lot 153) out of Querari’s stakes placed daughter Fresh.
