MRS GERIATRIX SIBLING TO STAR FOR CLIFTON STUD

Clifton Stud have bred an impressive list of high-class gallopers over the years. This list includes in recent times the likes of champion Mrs Geriatrix, G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes hero Cliff Hanger and the classy but ill-fated Flag Man.

The latter won three of eight starts and ran second in the G1 Daily News 2000 before his untimely death.

Another classy performer bred by Clifton Stud is impressive recent Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes winner Charming Cheetah, and the latter has a Declarationofpeace half-brother (Lot 83) on offer here.

This year, Clifton Stud will be bringing another outstanding consignment to the National Yearling Sale, where buyers will have the chance to acquire their own Mrs Geriatrix or Flag Man.

Clifton’s National Sale string is made up of yearlings sired by Act Of War, Chimichuri Run, Declarationofpeace, Erik The Red, Ideal World and the ever popular Master Of My Fate.

Star of the show could well be The Headmaster (Lot 329), a Master Of My Fate half-brother to Equus Champion, and G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner, Mrs Geriatrix. This colt is out of the Kahal mare Velvet Glove, whose full-brother Prince Of Kahal won both the G2 Joburg Spring Challenge and G3 Spring Spree Stakes. Master Of My Fate is also responsible for Indignation (Lot 207), a filly whose dam Mystic Tigress is a four time winning half-sister to Sea Cottage Stakes winner Majestic Mambo.

Declarationofpeace has made a very promising start to his stud career and his three lots on offer include Snow Warrior (Lot 56), a half-brother to this season’s G3 New Turf Carriers Merchants winner Mount Pilatus, who has earned nearly R600 000 in stakes, as well as the aforementioned half-brother to Charming Cheetah.

Other appealing sorts to be found in this draft include Red Chai (Lot 68), an Erik The Red colt out of Zimbabwe Derby winner Demitasse, and Delicious Dish (Lot 307), a filly, from the first crop of G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint winner Chimichuri Run, whose dam is a half-sister to G3 Acacia Handicap heroine High Seas Beauty.

Clifton Stud will also be offering, as agent, In The Red (Lot 257), a colt by promising young sire Erik The Red who is bred on similar lines to the likes of Captain’s Flame and Fragrant Al, while the stud is also acting as agent, on behalf of The Fort Stud, for Dance For Darling (Lot 174) a colt by Ideal World out of a five time winning daughter of Fort Wood.

This draft can be found in Block E at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
