John Everett’s Narrow Creek Stud has been enjoying a wonderful 12 months or so, with the farm’s ever growing list of high-class graduates including such graded stakes winning fillies as Big Burn and Sprinkles (herself a former Cape Sale purchase) and recent Listed Swallow Stakes heroine Freed From Desire -to mention just three.
Fillies bred by Narrow Creek fought out the finish to the 2022 Swallow Stakes, with the aforementioned Freed From Desire beating stablemate Big Burn to win a shade cosily.
Narrow Creek will be bringing another high-quality draft to this year’s Cape Yearling Sale, with this string headed by yearlings by such standout stallions as Querari, Rafeef and Vercingetorix, as well as by such exciting young prospects as Danon Platina and Gold Standard.
Leading sire Vercingetorix has a single lot in this draft -Heartache (Lot 166) is a filly whose three time winning dam is a half-sister to G2 KRA Fillies Guineas winner Maybe Yes, and this is also the family of the top-class Narrow Creek bred siblings Big Burn and Catch Twentytwo.
Thing Called Love (Lot 19) is a filly by sensational young sire Rafeef out of a four time winning daughter of the stakes winning Dancing Penny.
Querari, whose numerous high-class performers include the Narrow Creek bred high-class sprinter Pinnacle Peak, has two lots on offer. Railroad (Lot 32) is a three-parts brother to both Listed Jamaica Handicap queen Principessa and the aforementioned Pinnacle Peak, while Care Taker (Lot 51) is a colt out of a twice winning half-sister to Derby Trial hero Soul Master.
Solitary Man (Lot 73) is a William Longsword colt bred on similar lines to G3 winner Doosra, while Selangor Cup hero Gold Standard’s sole offering is Royals (Lot 46), a filly whose granddam is a half-sister to outstanding filly Gypsy’s Warning.
Japanese star Danon Platina is the sire of a half-sister (Lot 82) to the smart Flame Flower, and this filly hails from the same family as Met winners Alastor and Wild West.
Honey Bunch, a half-sister to the Oaks winning Sweetie Pie, has a Potala Palace colt (Lot 163) on the sale called Blame It On Me, and the beautifully bred Tiffindell, a Silvano daugher of G1 Majorca Stakes heroine Gluwein, has a colt (Lot 77) by champion Legislate up for sale.
