Ambiance Stud’s Dr Marianne Thomson has enjoyed plenty of success as a breeder, and her recent flagbearers include not only G1 Golden Horse Sprint hero Alesian Chief but also this season’s top-class three-year-old Royal Victory. The latter romped home to a brilliant win in the G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes before going down a short head when second in the G2 World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas.

Dr Thomson is very excited about the quality of horse she is bringing to the 2023 National Yearling Sale, with the Ambiance draft made up of lots by Erupt, Master Of My Fate, Querari, and champion sire in waiting Vercingetorix (whose progeny include the aforementioned Alesian Chief).
Marianne is particularly keen on Mind Map, a Master Of My Fate half-brother (Lot 169) to Alesian Chief, who she describes as a “helluva smart horse, who is light on his feet”, while she also has high hopes for the Querari colts Ocean Sky (Lot 334) and Cockney Walk (Lot 355).
The former, a half-brother to the uber classy Royal Victory, is a “very nice colt with good legs”, while Cockney Walk, a full brother to the Ambiance bred G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper victress Cockney Pride, is a “smart, sturdy sort who is bound to be popular”.
This draft can be viewed from Block E at the TBA complex in Germiston.
