Owloon Horses will be six strong at the 2023 National Yearling Sale, with their small but select draft made up of yearlings sired by all of Elusive Fort, Flower Alley, One World, Potala Palace, Querari and the hugely successful What A Winter. Remarkably every one of the Owloon yearlings on sale was sired by a G1 winning stallion.

Arctic Owl (Lot 291) is a colt bound to appeal to buyers -not only is he a son of top Cape sire Querari, but this colt is a half-brother to both Listed Kings Cup winner Dark Moon Rising and the smart G2 Umkhomazi Stakes third place-getter It’s About Time.

Another cracking prospect in this draft is the colt (Lot 220) by multiple champion sprinter What A Winter, with this half-brother to the smart filly Rose For Trippi out of a winning daughter of exported G1 TBA Paddock Stakes victress Emblem Of Liberty. From a top-class international female line, this colt looks sure to find his share of admirers!

Lady Limoncello (Lot 347) is a filly by Flower Alley, whose other daughters include such high-class performers as Lilacs And Lace, Princess Calla and Feather Boa to name but three. This filly is herself a half-sister to five winners notably former G2 SA Oaks winner Secret Potion and she clearly already has plenty of paddock value.

Met winning champion One World is represented here by a filly (Lot 127) whose three-time winning dam is a half-sister to graded stakes winners Black Arthur and Robert The Bruce, while Pantoffels (Lot 151) is an Elusive Fort half-brother to the very speedy performer Laetitia’s Angel and this colt is out of stakes winner who won six times.

Last but by no means least, Ruffian Stakes runner up Outander, a half-sister to R3 million plus earner Invidia, has a colt (Lot 399) on sale by G1 winner and G1 sire Potala Palace, with this colt hailing from the same family as G1 Gold Medallion winner Zeeno and successful sire Skitt Skizzle among many others.
