There is no doubt that Rafeef is one of the best stallions currently at stud in South Africa. In 2023-2024, the son of legendary Australian sire Redoute’s Choice was responsible for more stakes winners (nine) than the likes of Querari, Lancaster Bomber, Master Of My Fate, Trippi and What A Winter. Rafeef, whose progeny earned more than R14.113 million last season, was represented by such graded stakes winners as Beating Wings, Cats Pajamas, Frances Ethel, Mover And Shaker, Mrs Browning and star sprinter Thunderstruck, to name but a few, in 2023-2024.
South Africa’s Leading First Season of 2020-2021, Rafeef has two Grade One winning sons, Master Archie and Thunderstruck, standing at stud in South Africa this season.
The Birch Bros will be offering a very well bred colt by this increasingly successful sire at the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale. This colt (Lot 258), a full-brother to a winner, hails from one of the best families in the South Africa. His dam Raayaat, a daughter of top-class broodmare sire Kahal, is out of three time winning Goldkeeper mare Meezah, a full-sister to multiple graded stakes winner, and outstanding producer Secret Of Victoria. The latter, herself one of seven stakes winners produced by legendary broodmare Mystic Spring, has produced 11 runners, of all whom have won, and four stakes winners. Secret Of Victoria’s tally includes Equus Champion, and triple G1 winner All Is Secret (herself dam of Listed Lady’s Bracelet winner Sovereign Secret), G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner The Secret Is Out, Listed Lady’s Pendant queen Canukeepitsecret, and 2024 Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Roman Agent. Raayaat also hails from the immediate family of last season’s graded stakes winners Eight On Eighteen (G3 Langerman) and Snow Pilot (G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas), among many others.
This draft also includes two-year-olds by the likes of Admiral Kitten, Red Ray and Talk Of The Town.
The Birch Bros’ draft can be viewed from Block A at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
