“A nice bunch of horses” is how David Hepburn-Brown describes Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud’s consignment for the 2023 November Two Year Old Sale.
This draft is made up of two-year-olds sired by all of resident sire Horizon, as well as the likes of Canford Cliffs, Pomodoro, Potala Palace, William Longsword and Rafeef.
The latter, already sire of such G1 winners as Aragosta, Master Archie and Thunderstruck, is represented in this draft by a filly (Lot 129), described by David as very nice.
The filly in question is a half-sister to three winners and her dam Island Rise is a daughter of brilliant G1 Paddock Stakes/G1 Cape Fillies Guineas heroine Shepherd’s Moon.
David is also pleased with the five Potala Palace, a sire who has been siring on all cylinders this season, two-year-olds he is bringing to the November Sale. This group includes a half-brother (Lot 5) to Castle Tankard winning champion Peggson, as well as a colt (Lot 40) out of a stakes winning half-sister to G2 Gauteng Guineas/G3 London News Stakes victor Tellina, with the latter having also enjoyed success in Germany.
Other lots of interest in this draft include the Canford Cliffs colt (Lot 18) whose dam is a twice winning daughter of High Chaparral, and Sheezarocket (Lot 107), a filly by the inform William Longsword and half-sister to no fewer than nine winners.
