RIDGEMONT HIGHLANDS DOUBLY REPRESENTED ON CAPE SALE

Ridgemont Highlands, one of South Africa’s leading thoroughbred nurseries, will be offering, as agent, two beautifully bred fillies at the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

Ridgemont will be offering the only yearling by now pensioned, multiple champion sire Silvano at this year’s Cape Yearling Sale. This filly, who has been named Silver Mensa (Lot 92), shares her outstanding with such outstanding fillies and mares as Summer Pudding, Flirtation, Silver Mountain, Field Flower, Silvano’s Pride, Do You Remember, and Happy Valentine.

The regally bred Silver Mensa, a half-sister to a winner in Canada, is out of Society Pages, a Medaglia D’Oro daughter of G1 Frizette/G1 Alabama/G1 Test Stakes winner Society Selection.

Dubawi’s dual G1 winning son Erupt, who hails from the same family as champion sires Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur and Holy Roman Emperor, is responsible for Flowerbomb (Lot 176). The latter, a filly from her exciting young sire’s first crop, is a half-sister to two winners, with Flowerbomb’s dam Daffodil a Fastnet Rock daughter of G1 Yorkshire Oaks third Roman Empress. Roman Empress, in turn, is a Sadler’s Wells own sister to Investec Derby second The Great Gatsby and three-parts sister to G1 Grand Prix de Paris winner Imperial Monarch.

This year’s Cape Sale will be held at the Mistico Equestrian Centre on February 28th, and the catalogue for the one day auction can be viewed online at www.bsa.co.za
