Prominent thoroughbred nursery, Ridgemont Highlands, is no stranger to enjoying success at the KZN Yearling Sale.
In 2019 Ridgemont Highlands sold the very smart Crimson King at the KZN Sale, and that son of Dynasty subsequently went on to prove himself a very talented galloper indeed.
At the time of writing, Crimson King has won or placed nine times, with his triumphs including a victory in the 2021 G3 World Sports Betting Pocket Power Stakes.
When selling under the banner of Highlands Farm Stud, this formidable operation also made its mark in KwaZulu-Natal -with this farm consigning the likes of dual G1 winner Eyes Wide Open, G3 Pretty Polly Stakes queen Speedy Suzy, G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Red Chestnut Road and G3 Magnolia Handicap victress My Friend Lee to past renewals of the KZN Yearling Sale.
Ridgemont’s five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs has made a very encouraging start with his first locally bred and born crop of two-year-olds, with the former star miler’s early winners headed by Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes/Listed East Cape Nursery winner Cliff Top and he has two lots on offer here.
Gorgeous Guy (Lot 10) is a colt whose dam won four and finished second in the G3 Strelitzia Stakes while his fourth dam is G1 winner and G1 producer Enchanting. His paternal half-sister Madame Pompadour (Lot 52) is a half-sister to four winners, including this season’s very smart three-year-old Xavion, and her dam Sharp Mistress won twice including the G3 Three Troikas Stakes.
Other popular and successful stallions represented in Ridgemont Highlands’ draft for this year’s KZN Yearling Sale include Danon Platina, Potala Palace and former champion sire Trippi.
Ridgemont Highlands’ KZN string can be viewed in Blocks C and D at Durban’s Suncoast Casino.
