Riverton Stud, one of South Africa’s most consistent sources of high-class thoroughbreds, enjoyed another successful season in 2021-2022.
Riverton ended the past season, having sent out the earners of more than R3.621 million, with their flagbearers headed by G1 winner Astrix, Listed Lady’s Slipper/Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery winner Chere For Me and the smart Indlamu.
The farm’s success can also be reflected in the nominees for the Cape Breeders Awards, where the Riverton bred Astrix features among the nominees for Champion Older Male and Champion Middle Distance Horse, and Riverton’s late mare Victory Dance also rates as a nominee for Cape’s Broodmare Of The Year for 2021-2022.
Based in Robertson, Riverton will be bringing four very smart two-year-olds to this month’s August Two Year Old Sale.
Their quartet is made up of lots by the Riverton bred sprint champion Captain Of All, Dynasty’s promising son Horizon, G1 winner and G1 sire Potala Palace and former Cape Guineas winner William Longsword.
Among the standout lots in this draft is the Captain Of All half-brother (Lot 75) to Chere For Me, and the William Longsword half-brother to former Met contender Awesome Power (Lot 78).
Riverton’s four lots can be viewed in Block H at the TBA complex in the days leading up to the 2022 August Sale.
