ROUS BROS OFFER FIVE FABULOUS YEARLINGS AT NATIONAL SALE

The Rous Bros, trading as Henham Stud, will be bringing five quality yearlings to this year’s National Yearling Sale. The fivesome are made up of yearlings sired by Act Of War, Danon Platina, Elusive Fort, and Erik The Red. The latter, whose first yearlings to go through the ring have already proved very popular, has two lots on offer here. Rous Bros will be offering three yearlings at the National Sale, and are also acting as agent on two further lots at the auction.

Cherry Lane (Lot 73), a filly bred on similar lines to useful performers Captain Oupie and Melech, is a daughter of Erik The Red and the four time winning Candy Galore. The latter, in turn, is a half-sister to Listed Wolf Power 1600 hero General Sherman and the very smart galloper Two Tone. This well bred filly’s granddam is a twice winning daughter of Fort Wood from the immediate family of the Fort Wood sired champion Kimberley Mine.

Erik The Red is also represented here by Mr Bright Spark (Lot 317), a colt out of Secret Star, with the latter winning six times including the For The Ladies Stakes (Non-Black Type).

Hammerhead (Lot 124) is a colt by Japanese champion Danon Platina with this colt a half-brother to the smart performer Running Rifles, and he hails from the wonderful E family.

Former Cape Guineas winner Act Of War, sire of champion War Of Athena among others, is the sire of Amazon Queen (Lot 319), a half-sister to three smart winners including 2021 G1 Vodacom Durban July contender Shah Akbar, while Cranberry Point (Lot 154), a filly by consistently successful sire Elusive Fort, is out of a half-sister to G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes/G3 Magnolia Handicap runner up Silver Class and she is a direct descendant of the wonderful broodmare Soho Secret.
