SANDOWN SET FOR KZN YEARLING SALE SUCCESS

Sandown Stud’s James Armitage is very pleased with his draft for the 2023 KZN Yearling Sale. James will be bringing a very high-quality string to this year’s Natal Sale, including yearlings by Ideal World, Potala Palace and Sandown’s own G1 winning resident stallions Pathfork and Soqrat.

A handful of fillies standout in this draft, while James has the following to say about the striking looking Potala Palace colt Super Buck Moon (163), “He is a high-quality, good looking colt.”

He is equally complimentary about a number of fillies in his draft. Resident sire Pathfork, who has had a wonderful season this year with his flagbearers including the likes of Bingwa, Royal Victory and Jimmy Don, has two very nice fillies on offer. Warrior Rose (Lot 115), a half-sister to this season’s G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Lady Of Power, is a “strong filly, bred on a great cross. Pathfork on Fort Wood mares have a very high strike rate of stakes winners to runners.”

Pathfork is also the sire of Forward Motion (Lot 160), a filly out of East Cape Oaks winner Miss Scaramanga, and James says of her, “She is a lovely, scopey filly from a good female line.”

The Sandown based champion Soqrat had a fantastic sale at the 2023 National Sale, where Soqrat yearlings averaged nearly R500 000, and the triple G1 winner has a smashing filly in this draft by the name of Pearl In Her Crown (Lot 128). Her breeder says of the daughter of the stakes placed French Pearl, “She is a strong, rangy filly much in the mould of her mother. Something good has to come out this mare as two of her sisters were highly thought of and competed at the highest level.”

The aforementioned draft can be viewed from Block E at the Suncoast Casino in Durban.
