James Armitage’s Sandown Stud, breeders of numerous top-class horses including champions French Navy and Magnificent Seven, will be offering a very smart string at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale.
Sandown will be offering two-year-olds sired by such notable stallions as Canford Cliffs, Elusive Fort, Master Of My Fate, Pathfork and Vercingetorix, as well as three lots on behalf of Shadwell Stud.
The three lots offered on behalf of Shadwell are two-year-olds sired by Duke Of Marmalade, Rafeef and Silvano, with all three hailing from top-class female lines.
Five time G1 winner Canford Cliffs’ first South African crop includes a colt (Lot 21) whose granddam is SA Oaks winner Noble Destiny, while boom sire, and former Equus Champion, Vercingetorix’s sole lot in this draft is War Empress (Lot 144) -a three-parts sister to the Vercingetorix sired champion Nebraas.
Master Point (Lot 62), a colt by rising star sire Master Of My Fate, is out of a four time winning Silvano half-sister to stakes winning two-year-old Scripture, while Set To Shine (Lot 139) is a Pomodoro half-brother to the useful Gold Griffin.
Champion Elusive Fort, whose progeny include last season’s G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Kommetdieding, has two lots in Sandown’s consignment. Painted Earth (Lot 7) is a filly from the immediate family of champion fillies Cherry On The Top and Summer Pudding, while Royal Invitation (Lot 148), a filly bred on the same cross as G1 winner Lauderdale, is a half-sister to four winners including the smart Neartic Dancer.
Resident sire Pathfork has four lots on offer including Cherokee Trail (Lot 96), a colt whose four time winning dam is a half-sister to dual G3 winner Tribal Dance, and Empress Game (Lot 154). The latter is a filly whose G3 winning third dam is a half-sister to Elusive Fort himself!
Sandown will also be offering, on behalf of Shadwell -a Rafeef colt (Lot 66) from the family of champions Bela-Bela and Rabiya, a Duke Of Marmalade filly (Lot 118) whose granddam is a full-sister to G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner On Her Toes and a regally bred colt (Lot 130) by five times South African champion sire Silvano.
The latter colt, the only one on sale by his now deceased sire, is a half-brother to debut winner Al Aasy , with his granddam a four time winning half-sister to US G1 winner Magnificent Song.
