Sandown Stud will be handsomely represented at this year’s National Yearling Sale. James Armitage is bringing eight yearlings to the auction, with Sandown also acting as agent on behalf of Shadwell SA (Pty) Ltd for a further six lots.
The farm’s resident sire, and former Equus Champion, Soqrat is well represented, with the G1 Cape Guineas responsible for four members of his first crop in this draft. Other notable stallions represented include Futura, Gimmethegreenlight, Master Of My Fate, Querari and the ever popular Vercingetorix.
James is very pleased with the quality of horse he is bringing to the sale and has the following to say about his consignment:
Lot 91: Futura – Sound The Flute
A ¾ brother to Majestic Mozart. Tall scopy colt that will in time be looking for the Summer Cup, Durban July distances.
Lot 177: Vercingetorix – Anhaar
This is a super colt – he was a good looking foal and has continued to grow into a lovely yearling. He has size, scope and quality by a leading sire.
Lot 186: Rafeef – Awfaa
Rafeef has put good size into this colt out of a medium sized Silvano mare. A good looking big strong colt.
Lot 204: Potala Palace – Brave Bid
Nice colt with good bone- racey.
Lot 209: Soqrat – Captain’s Song
This is a very strong filly with a great hind quarter, lots of scope and size to her. She has a great walk.
Lot 380: Soqrat – Mohallela
A ½ brother to the very useful Arividicio. He has a good shape to him with good hind quarter and is nice and athletic.
Lot 383: Querari – Musanaada
Very scopy Querari colt with a good action. Still a bit immature but very nice nevertheless.
Lot 389: Soqrat – Natural Beauty
This is a smart scopy filly and has been since day 1. She is a half sister to So Flawless. She has the looks of a classic filly.
