SORRENTO, SYRILLA STUDS OFFER CLASSY SORTS AT NATIONAL SALE

Sorrento Stud, one of South Africa’s top spelling and boarding farms and proven source of high-class thoroughbreds, will be offering a small but select draft at this year’s National Yearling Sale.

Among the notable thoroughbreds bred by Terry and Annabel are G1 Paddock Stakes winner Badger’s Gift, the remarkable globetrotting gelding Nocturnal Affair and G3 World Sports Betting Cape Summer Stayers/G3 Winter Derby hero Dharma.

The farm also raised and pre-trained G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner Singforafa, and that daughter of Potala Palace has already earned more than R900 000 in prize money.

Sorrento, home to former South African Triple Crown and G1 Summer Cup hero Louis The King, recently received a notable boost when it was announced that renowned horsewoman Sally Bruss and her daughter Caitlin would be joining the farm.

The near Paarl based farm will be offering four lots, two on behalf of legendary golfer Gary Player, at the 2022 National Yearling Sale.

Sorrento’s National Sale string is made up of yearlings sired by such popular and promising stallions as Lancaster Bomber, Master Of My Fate, What A Winter and the much missed Var.

The latter is represented here by a full-brother (Lot 157) to G2 Senor Santa Stakes winner Vars Vicky, while G3 Byerley Turk victor Tristful has a What A Winter half-sister (Lot 412) by the name Scottish Mist of on offer.

This draft can be viewed in Block B at the TBA complex in Germiston.

Breeders of the smart siblings Kwinta’s Light and Kwite A Trip, to name but two, Syrilla Stud is another farm with a small but quality draft on offer at the 2022 National Yearling Sale.

Based just outside Malmesbury, the farm will be offering yearlings by all of Danon Platina, Gimmethegreenlight, Lancaster Bomber, Master Of My Fate, and champion sire elect Vercingetorix.

The latter is represented in this string by a half-brother to the aforementioned pair of Kwinta’s Light and Kwite A Trip, while consistently successful sire Master Of My Fate is the sire of a colt (Lot 367) whose G2 Camellia Stakes winning dam Eastern Greeting is a full-sister to the G3 winning dam of Kwinta’s Light and Kwite A Trip.

Syrilla Stud’s draft for this year’s National Sale can be viewed in Blocks A and D at the TBA complex.
