SOUTHFORD, STONE HILL BRING EIGHT TO AUGUST SALE

The Southford and Stone Hill studs will be bringing a combined eight lots to the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale. The two drafts are made up of two-year-olds sired by a trio of stallions namely Admiral Kitten, Danon Platina and Royal Mo.

David Southey will be bringing five lots to this year’s August Sale, with Southford set to offer two-year-olds by a pair of G1 winning stallions in the form of Admiral Kitten and Danon Platina respectively. Japanese champion Danon Platina, one of the most exciting stallions at stud in South Africa, is the sire of Arctic Fury (Lot 141), a half-sister to four winners whose dam is a daughter of Western Winter and G1 winning champion Colonial Girl.

Southford’s resident sire Admiral Kitten, whose numerous winning progeny include G1 Gold Medallion runner up Now I Got You, has four lots on offer. Admiral Kitten’s quartet is headed by Maxigirl (Lot 122), a filly whose dam is a three time winning daughter of multiple champion sire Silvano, and Promised Gold (Lot 191), a filly from the family of outstanding sprinter and successful sire Goldmark.

David is pleased with his draft and says of the Admiral Kitten fillies he is bringing to the sale, “They are all November born and all are racy, nice fillies from reasonable female lines. While Admiral Kitten still needs to come up with a stakes winner, he remains top of the bunch in the Karoo and he has a very good winners to runners strike rate.”

Stone Hill Stud’s Heinrich Rix is no stranger to good horses and he will be offering three lots by Uncle Mo’s high-class son Royal Mo at the August Sale this year. Lady Cotton Candy (Lot 71) is a filly whose six time winning dam is a daughter of G1 class sprinter Tetre Rouge, Count Invicto (Lot 209), a colt out of a twice winning daughter of G1 Paddock Stakes runner up Time Of My Life, and Hindi Queen (Lot 230). Hindi Queen is colt who hails from the same family as champion South African sire Fort Wood as well as such international standouts as Dubai Millennium, Timber Country, Intello and Elnadim to name but a few.

Southford’s five lots can be found in Block B at the TBA complex in Germiston, while Stone Hill Stud’s three Royal Mo sired two-year-olds can be viewed from the same complex’s Block H.
