Even by their own high standards, Drakenstein Stud enjoyed a superb season in 2021-2022. The farm ended last season having bred no fewer than 18 stakes winners during that period, including the Equus Champions Jet Dark, Rain In Holland and Safe Passage.
Drakenstein will be offering an outstanding draft at this year’s National Sale, with a notable feature of their string being the quality of broodmare represented. This draft includes yearlings out of both G1 winners and G1 producers, while stallions represented in this string include Futura, Gimmethegreenlight, Lancaster Bomber, One World, Trippi, Vercingetorix and their own red hot resident sire What A Winter.
Understandably, Kevin Sommerville is very upbeat about Drakenstein’s National Yearling Sale draft and he had the following comments to make about a few of the stars on offer:
Lot 49 – Father Christmas by Gimmethegreenlight ex Santa Clara
