From speedy G2 winner Kwinta’s Light to this season’s G3 Betway Victory Moon Stakes winner Greeting My Master, Syrilla Stud continues to come up with top-class racehorses.
Other smart performers bred by Syrilla include Listed Woolavington Stakes winner Daiymo (bred in partnership with Erasmus Thoroughbreds), debut winner Orbit, and top-class sprinter Winter Greeting.
The farm will be offering a high-class draft at the upcoming National Yearling Sale, with Syrilla’s draft made up of yearlings sired by Gimmethegreenlight, Rafeef and Vercingetorix, three of the hottest stallions in South Africa.
Syrilla’s Tiaan Ellis is very upbeat on the string that he is bringing to this year’s National Sale, and had the following comments to make on Syrilla’s draft.

By the sire of such star fillies as Frances Ethel, Beating Wings, Mrs Browning and Glastonbury, this filly is out of a four time winning daughter of top-class Australian sire Commands. She is a very powerful, strong walker and a very racey filly with a lot of quality.
Lot 78: King In The East c Vercingetorix -Eastern Greeting
By South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2024-2025, this half-brother to Greeting My Master is out of G2 Camellia Stakes winner Eastern Greeting. He is a classy colt with two graded and listed stakes winning siblings. He is correct and a very smooth walker.
Lot 106: Rey Del Fuego c Vercingetorix -Flaming Mad
By the sire of current stars Greaterix, Double Grand Slam, Oriental Charm and Spumante Dolce, this colt is out of a winning daughter of Captain Al and his stakes placed granddam is a full-sister to the G3 placed dam of champion Lady In Black (dam of smart Hong Kong performer Mid Winter Wind) and dual G2 Peninsula Handicap winner Nexus. This is an exceptional colt with plenty bone and substance. He is a massive striding walker with a very good mind and presence about him.

By South Africa’s reigning champion sire, this filly hails from the same family as Australian G1 winners Desert War, Laser Hawk and Romantic Touch. A beautiful and flashy daughter of Gimmethegreenlight. She is a strong and elegant filly that will surely catch the eye. She is a very big easy walker and has ample substance.
Lot 332: Smoke And Shadows c Gimmethegreenlight -Victoria Paige
Bred on the same cross as champions Proceed and Sandringham Summit, this colt’s dam won four and ran second in all of the G2 Gold Bracelet, G3 Three Troikas Stakes and Listed Off To Stud Stakes. This is the foal out of the well performed mare Victoria Paige. He is a very strong and racey colt that has a lot of bone and very strong quarters. He is a good walker and oozes Captain Al.
