Spencer Cook’s The Rock will be offering two yearlings at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale, which is set take place at the Mistico Equestrian Centre on February 28th.

Finnec Fox (Lot 52) is a filly by the ever popular Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019 and one of the country’s most consistent sources of stakes horses.

A son of Oasis Dream, Querari is no stranger to siring high-class fillies, with his daughters headed by G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon and fellow graded stakes winners Cockney Pride, Cosmic Light, and Mill Queen.

His beautifully bred daughter Finnec Fox, a half-sister to recent 2YO winner Arctic Skyline, is out of the winning Trippi mare Miss Wales, a full-sister to G2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas runner up and G1 SA Fillies Classic third Not Sulking, and half-sister to high-class stayer Predestination. Miss Wales’ granddam, Dragonada, is a G3 placed own sister to G1 Prix Lupin winning sire Gracioso and former high-class South African sire Caesour. Further back, this is the family of such renowned international champions as Ajdal, Arazi and Noverre to name but a few.

Irish Champion Pathfork, the sire of such as Mighty High, Mr Flood, Marchingontogether and My Friend Lee, is also represented in this draft. The son of Distorted Humor is responsible for a half-brother (Lot 134) to the smart filly Laetitia’s Angel, with this colt a son of Queen Of The Sand victress Xilomante.
