Moutonshoek, breeders of, among others, champion Captain’s Ransom, will be offering a stellar draft at the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale. Not only does this string include two-year-olds sired by the farm’s very successful resident sire The United States, it also offers buyers the chance to acquire stock sired by the likes of Fire Away, Futura and One World.

While upbeat about his whole draft, Bennie Van Der Merwe is particularly taken with the two-year-olds by his resident sire and has the following to say about the aforementioned trio:

Lot 221 Bubba Gump c The United States – Jambalaya
Bubba Gump is a beautifully balanced individual. He is a half-brother to a stakes winner from a very good family.

Lots 33 (Still Together f The United States – Sapphire Ring) and 250 (Care Forgot f The United States – Love Unlimited) are the picks of the fillies.
Both are big scopey individuals with the latter being an own sister to Alabama Anna.

Bennie is also very pleased with Confederate (Lot 100) c Fire Away – Acquavella, and says of this colt, “He is a very smart scopey individual by Fire Away, and is a half-brother to a G1 placed filly in Dawn Calling.”
