Well established as among the top farms in South Africa, Lammerskraal Stud will be represented by a small but quality draft at the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.
The Ceres farm will be offering five yearlings at this year’s Cape Yearling Sale, with all five lots sired by G1 winning stallions.
Captain Al’s Cape Guineas winning son William Longsword has two lots on offer in the Lammerskraal draft. Sprota (Lot 23) is a filly out of the regally bred Izora, who won three and finished second in the G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes. Izora, herself a daughter of Western Winter and Equus Champion Icy Air, is a three-parts sister to champion sprinter Russet Air and half-sister to G2 Premier Trophy winner Icy Trail.
Marvel William (Lot 45) is also by William Longsword out of a daughter of Western Winter, but this colt’s dam, Marcheline, is a winning own sister to millionaire Exelero and two-year-old stakes winner Master Mascus.
Orange Red (Lot 79), a colt by Cartier Champion Duke Of Marmalade, is out of a dual winning Silvano half-sister to high-class filly Red Flame, while Duke Of Marmalade, the sire of more than 70 black type horses, is also responsible for Jam Jam (Lot 142). The latter, whose dam is a full-sister to champion Ice Cube, is a half-sister to four black type horses notably Settlers Trophy hero Arezzo and Jacaranda Handicap queen Insignis.
The farm’s G1 winning resident sire Visionaire is also represented in this draft. The son of Grand Slam is the sire of Eagle Quest (Lot 189), a colt out of a four time winning mare who herself is a three-parts sister to South African Triple Crown winner Abashiri and this is also the family of the Lammerskraal bred Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm.
