Galileo mare Miss Galidora has proved a wonderful broodmare for Mauritzfontein (Pty) Ltd. The half-sister to French classic winner, and successful sire, Clodovil, has already produced three winners from three runners, notably graded stakes winners Aragosta (G1 World Sports Betting SA Derby, G3 Sea Cottage Stakes) and Mrs Browning (G2 TAB Camellia Stakes, G3 Joburg Tourism Carry On Alice Stakes). Between them, Aragosta and Mrs Browning, also runner up in the 2024 G1 South African Fillies Sprint, have won or been placed in 14 graded races and the pair have grossed more than R3.234 million in prize money. Mauritzfontein will be offering a Danon Platina half-brother, in the form of Whispering Death (Lot 219), to Aragosta and Mrs Browning at the August Two Year Old Sale, with the blue blooded colt also bred on similar lines to such classic winners as Auguste Rodin, Snowfall and Saxon Warrior.
Japanese champion Danon Platina has some very well bred two-year-olds on offer. His son Head And Heart (Lot 73) is a half-brother to Listed Wolf Power 1600 hero Irish Pride and his numerous high-class relatives include champions Celtic Grove and Marinaresco. Another well bred colt by Danon Platina is Makajima (Lot 138), a half-brother to recent Winter Mile winner Sugar Mountain whose dam Gettna is a three-parts sister to the Var sired G3 Europa Point Man O’War Sprint winner Mercantour.
Outstanding sires Gimmethegreenlight and Vercingetorix both have well bred two-year-olds on offer here. Wayne (Lot 78), a three-parts brother to smart filly Moraine (by Silvano) is a colt by Silvano’s champion son Vercingetorix and is out of a half-sister to the G3 winning dam of the Silvano sired Horse Of The Year and Triple Tiara winner Summer Pudding.
Gimmethegreenlight, champion sire again in 2023-2024, is the sire of Bosphorus Strait (Lot 85), a half-sister to both Listed East Cape Oaks runner up Silverlinks and promising filly Spirit Of Levana. The well bred Bosphorus Strait is out of the Fort Wood sired G3 Fillies Mile winner Close The Gap, a full-sister to G2 winner Cork Wood and three-parts sister to the Fort Wood sired superstar Horse Chestnut.
