Small but select describes Syrilla Stud’s draft for this year’s National Yearling Sale. What this consignment lacks in size, it more than makes up for in quality, with star stallions Gimmethegreenlight and Vercingetorix both represented here, as are Met winning champion One World and the very exciting Futura.

Syrilla’s Tiaan Ellis is upbeat and positive about the string he is bringing to the 2023 National Sale. Tiaan likes the quality of stallion represented in his draft, but has singled out Gallic Forge (Lot 146) as possibly the stud’s standout draft.

He says of the Vercingetorix colt, ” He is a classic colt, an excellent walker with very good conformation. “

Gallic Forge hails from one of the best families in the stud book. His dam Winter’s Forge, a daughter of multiple champion sire Western Winter, won twice and finished second in the G2 SA Fillies Nursery as well as third in both the G2 Camellia Stakes and G3 Sycamore Sprint. A half-sister to the dam of G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe/G3 Byerley Turk hero Waterberry Lane, Winter Forge hails from the same family as the Western Winter sired G2 winner Polar Bound.
