TOP SIRES TO STAR FOR HEMEL ‘N AARDE AT AUGUST SALE

Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud will be offering a very smart draft at the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale, with the stud offering two-year-olds sired by some of South Africa’s top stallions.

Among the sires represented in this consignment are both Gimmethegreenlight and Vercingetorix, making this a draft a must-see for all serious buyers.

Understandably, David Hepburn-Brown is upbeat about his draft, and singles out a few lots in particular as potential stars.

Lot 126: Gimme Wings f Gimmethegreenlight – Butterfly Girl
“She is a very well related filly, with her half-brother Tread Swiftly running second in the G3 Merchants and another half-brother, Blackwhitedynamite, now a five time winner. She is a nice, strong filly with good substance.”

Lot 138: Lightinthestorm c Gimmethegreenlight – Celestial Storm
“He looks like a colt who will come to hand quickly. A first foal, he is a strong colt, with a family with plenty of speed. He is a nice colt, who is correct and is a nice size.”

Lot 240: f Vercingetorix – Leylani
“She is a very nice filly, from a lovely family. Her dam has already had 2 black type horses as well as Lushozi Shoop, who won her only start. She is a really athletic and correct. I think she is a standout.”

He also likes the Jay Peg filly (Lot 36) out of Seattle Magic, with this filly the last Jay Peg two-year-old to go through a sales ring. David says of this three-parts sister to the smart Neala, “She is a nice, well grown filly. She is smart and athletic, and is from a very nice family.”

This draft can be found in Block H at the TBA Complex in Germiston.
